Anderson County is a county located in the U.S. state of Kentucky. It was formed in 1827. In 2010 the population was 21,421. Its county seat is Lawrenceburg, Kentucky[1]. The county is named for Richard Clough Anderson, Jr., a Kentucky Legislator, U.S. Congressman and minister to Colombia.
Anderson County is part of the Frankfort Micropolitan Statistical Area.

According to the 2000 census, the county has a total area of 204.28 square miles (529.1 km2), of which 202.67 square miles (524.9 km2) (or 99.21%) is land and 1.61 square miles (4.2 km2) (or 0.79%) is water.[2]

At the 2000 census[3], there were 19,111 people, 7,320 households and 5,526 families residing in the county. The population density was 94 per square mile (36/km²). There were 7,752 housing units at an average density of 38 per square mile (15/km²). The racial makeup of the county was 96.53% White, 2.35% Black or African American, 0.12% Native American, 0.12% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.17% from other races, and 0.70% from two or more races. 0.80% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There were 7,320 households of which 37.00% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 62.80% were married couples living together, 9.20% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.50% were non-families. 20.50% of all households were made up of individuals and 8.40% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.59 and the average family size was 2.99.
Age distribution was 26.60% under the age of 18, 7.40% from 18 to 24, 32.40% from 25 to 44, 22.70% from 45 to 64, and 10.80% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 95.60 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.00 males.
The median household income was $45,433, and the median family income was $50,837. Males had a median income of $33,125 versus $25,053 for females. The per capita income for the county was $18,621. About 4.80% of families and 7.50% of the population were below the poverty line, including 8.70% of those under age 18 and 13.10% of those age 65 or over.
Lawrenceburg is known by some as "Smalltown USA".
